Keep this story in mind if anyone suggests it is hyperbolic to call the political right in this country the American Taliban. Jay Townsend, campaign spokesman for Rep. Nan Hayworth (R, NY) responded to a question from a constituent about gas prices that was critical of his boss by suggesting the answer was to "hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators."
For real.
It gets better. I mean worse. The comment was made on a Facebook page called NY 19 U.S. House of Representatives Discussion Center. The site encourages "civil multi-partisan discussion about issues impacting citizens of New York's U.S. House District represented by Republican Congresswoman Nan Hayworth."

My question today … when is Tommy boy going to weigh in on all the Lilly Ledbetter hypocrites who claim to be fighting the War on Women? | I can't imagine that is the kind of "civil" exchange of thoughts the creators of the discussion page had in mind. It would be bad enough if that kind of comment came from a private citizen. But let's be honest. We've all read the comment section of internet posts and inflammatory comments are common. But this came directly from the campaign, from the spokesman of a sitting Representative in response to a question about gas prices that also was critical of current leadership.
This is the leadership of American right at its most naked anti-woman core. And there's no sign its changing anytime soon
