Terrorist risk on Bali bombing anniversary Oct 10th 2012, 13:38 And so it goes on. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...-bombings.html Quote: As hundreds of relatives and friends of the victims of the 2002 bombings arrive in Bali ahead of Friday's memorial service marking the 10th anniversary of Indonesia's deadliest terrorist attack, the authorities have raised the country's security alert to its highest level after receiving intelligence of a threat to the ceremony. "Based on credible information the terrorists have planned to target the Bali bombing commemoration with a terror attack," said Bali's deputy police chief I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana. Brigadier-General Yoga Ana added that security on the island was now at "the highest level". Bali police said that Ms Gillard and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, both of whom are scheduled to attend the ceremony along with former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, may be the terrorists' target. "From the information we have gathered there is an indication of certain movement of (suspects) that plan to target VIP's who attend the event," said Brigadier-General Yoga Ana. "We have prepared to face such a threat and are still following the people involved." | | |
