The sham of British "democracy"

It is often claimed that Britain is a shining example of a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, a model that the rest of the world should emulate. This is, however, complete bullshit. The British political system is anachronistic as much as it is oligarchic, and only masquerades as a democracy:

Britain does not have a written, codified constitution setting it apart from the civilized world and places it in the same category of absolute monarchies like Saudi Arabia. Rather, the U.K's "constitution" is just a mish-mash of medieval charters, treaties, laws, traditions, customs and so forth.

1. The head of state is an unelected, feudal monarch. Despite claims that the Queen is just a figurehead, it must also be recognized that she has the following powers beyond her largely ceremonial duties:

i) Commander-in-chief of the armed forces.
ii) The power to dismiss the government or dissolve Parliament.
iii) The right to withhold royal assent to legislation passed by Parliament.
iv) The "royal prerogative" which means the Sovereign can basically assume the powers of a dictator if deemed necessary.

The royal family and the royal court do exercise considerable influence behind the scenes and all elected officials have to gain their approval if they wish to be successful and remain in office.

2. The Upper House of Parliament, i.e the House of "Lords" (amazing to think that such aristocratic nonsense persists in the 21st century), is entirely unelected and unrepresentative. While it has lesser powers than the Commons, it does have the ability to delay bills, to oversee government, and members of the House of Lords can be part of the Cabinet or Privy Council.

3. All elected members of the House of Commons have to swear an oath of loyalty to the Monarch. Therefore, republicans and communists are necessarily excluded from office unless they renounce their political beliefs.

4. The judiciary is unelected and unaccountable, and is thoroughly infiltrated by freemasons and other secretive organizations.

5. The civil service in the U.K is very powerful. Top mandarins are given the title of "permanent under secretary". They are not just unelected but are also largely unaccountable and invisible from public scrutiny.

Also, despite claims of having a free press, it should be noted that there is no real independent or opposition press. There are 10 national dailies, 7 of which are owned by pro-Establishment persons and reflect pro-royalist views. There is the Morning Star (communist), of course, but it is hard to find because of the capitalists in charge of newsprint distribution.
