There is just no reason to have guns in a civilised society. If guns weren't allowed, these large-scale murders would not be so easily possible....

A police officer and a civilian have been killed, and an unknown number are injured after a shooting at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

The Bryan-College Station Eagle is reporting that at least five people have been taken to the hospital with injuries sustained in the shooting.

Police officials said that the shooter had been injured, and was in police custody; other reports indicated the shooter may have been killed.

Details remain sketchy. One witness told KHOU-TV that shots had come from a nearby home, and WFAA reported that the shooting might be related to an eviction notice.

The attack is the third major shooting in just over two weeks. Last Sunday, a gunman killed six worshipers at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wis., and the week before, a shooter killed 12 people at a theater in Aurora, Colo.
