4-Year-Old Rahquel Carr Shot and Killed in Northwest Miami-Dade Apr 2nd 2013, 14:36 LINK Guns have no place in civilised society.... Quote: A 4-year-old girl was shot and killed on Saturday in front of other children while she was sitting in her grandparents' car in Miami-Dade, Fla. Rahquel Carr was shot in her upper body inside a white Mercedes-Benz parked outside of her grandparents' home, according to Miami-Dade police. She was pronounced dead at Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Carr's 6-year-old brother was found holding a gun. Police would not confirm if the boy was the shooter. The investigation will focus on who owned the gun and how it got into the hands of children. "We will be looking at who the firearm belonged to, where the firearm was in the vehicle at the time, along with who was present when this child was shot," Miami-Dade Det. Roy Rutland told WPLG. According to Rutland, two other kids were believed to be inside the car when the girl was killed. A group of other children was playing outside the home just before the fatal shot was fired, too. Police spoke with all of them while investigating what happened. Rahquel had been living with her grandparents prior to this the incident. Her grandfather, Willie Carr, 57, collapsed after the shooting, the Miami Herald reported, and was taken to the hospital Saturday night. | | |
