The state of Texas has 1.5 million uninsured residents and faces billions in uncompensated hospital care every year. However, Texas Governor Rick Perry is still refusing to expand medicaid in his state, which would provide medical care for the 1.5 million Texas and bring $90 billion in funding to the Lone Star state, reports TheHill.com. "The conventional wisdom in Austin is that he's not running for governor," said Jay Root, who wrote a book about Gov. Perry's 2012 presidential run. "If he's going to run for anything, he's going to run for president." "We care about our poorest Texans," claimed Gov. Perry last month at the Conservative Political Action Conference. "We want them to have the best care possible, and that cannot happen with a program that is on its way to bankruptcy." |
